Carinna and Bryce met in a non traditional way — through a dating app. Carinna was in Colorado on her clinical rotation, and Bryce was recovering from major abdominal surgery. Because they were in different states, they talked on the phone and got to know each other before meeting in person.

A month later, they met for coffee and a walk around Batiquitos Lagoon. As the story goes, at the end of their first date Bryce asked Carinna if he could kiss her and she said “Sorry, I don’t kiss on the first date.” They hugged and went their separate ways. Immediately, Carinna called her best friend Anna to tell her the date went horribly, that she denied him a kiss and he will never talk to her again. But that was not the case… Bryce respected that and asked her out on another date.

Two years later, Bryce took Carinna back to Batiquitos Lagoon for a walk.

Instead of asking for a kiss, he asked if she would marry him.
